PC website used

This wasn’t an official usability test since it was quite spontaneous. I called him to quickly say hi and he asked about the website so I suggested that he share screen and explore it together whilst voicing what was going through his head. Didn’t use the template so it was a bit sporadic.

• Never been on Manifold.Markets before
• Small familiarity with prediction markets (mostly from me just describing my job to him briefly, no first hand experience with them).
• Very capable internet user

Bugs

• Shows traders as 0
• clicked to go to someone’s profile page. Pressed back and nothing happened (in the search bar I could see it remove the ?=newest), figured out if he pressed it twice it went back to the market.

Critical issues

• Lack of info on homepage saying what Manifold markets is and what you can do
• Huge point of confusion regarding the maths of liquidity and probability
  • He really wanted to work it out but couldn’t
  • maybe post link to more advanced docs that break down the maths somewhere there so can easily navigate to it?

Low hanging fruit

• Make sure everything has better tooltips, particularly on the create page.
• Make date selection simpler
