We removed numeric markets and multiple choice markets because they are a much worse experience for traders.
One replacement is to create multiple binary markets. But we’re missing a way to easily group them together.
- Groups can and do work for this purpose, but are not lightweight. We want to make it as easy as possible for users, and the UX should be different because the use case is different.
- In particular, other markets from the set should appear on a market’s page.
Proposal
- Implement a lightweight “set” that says “this collection of markets is related”.
- When you visit a market, other markets in the set appear as cards in the description under the heading “In this set”.
- Markets can be in only one set, and only are assigned by the creator, and only with other markets created by the creator.
- Creator sees the button to “Add to set” at the bottom of the market description. This pops up a search dialog over their markets (like the add market for groups), from which markets can be linked.
- Above the market search are a list of existing sets: a rectangle surrounds a list of questions in each set. If one of these sets is clicked, the current market is added to it.
- Once added to a set, the button changes to say “Remove from set”
Alternatives
- Linked markets
- Add a market as linked to another. This link is bidirectional, and shows a card of any linked market on the market page
- Not quite the use case for groups of numeric or conditional markets
