- Think we should try to choose one of these to focus on first.
- Leagues - are these cohorts?
- “rank” system
- more engaging for more active users
- Can be designed in a way that somehow measures how good we think they are as a forecaster/trader depending on what metrics we choose to be reflected.
- con: Can get “stuck” at a certain rank or even demote which can be frustrating
- Often less enticing for new users compared to a level system
- XP system
- Good for overall sense of progression.
- But more dependent on overall usage of app and not ur actual performance. This can be good/bad depending on person
- Don’t have the downside of getting “stuck” which u might with leagues.
- easy to tie in “unlocking features” eg. if we want users to progress to a certain level before unlocking limit orders
- Quests/tasks
- Can tie to badges
- Can tie to unlocking new features, but more specific than XP system
- Can be tied to XP (quests give xp rewards instead of mana, and levelling up is what gives u the mana)
- Q: Priorities
- [c, A, s] think new user experience is more important
- [S] XP is gamer-friendly, not normie-friendly
- [D] Could use “levels” instead of “XP”
- [i] all normies have played gamified apps, candy crush, duolingo
- [c] I almost only want an unlock feature progression, and you don’t have to care about xp after that
- which is maybe more like badge/achievements than xp
- [s] Don’t want to add another metric for people to keep track of
- Already have:
- Quests
- Streak balance
- Profit
- [c] leaderboard for people you follow?
- Decision: David to create different design proposals. - geared towards new users and cohorts ranking system
